Litecoin (LTC) celebrates its 8 anniversary!

Eight years ago, the Litecoin network was running the day Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple, died in 56 years. The first LTC block was found containing the following message:

“@NY Times 05 / Oct / 2011 Steve Jobs, Apple's Visionary, Dies at 56 ″

According to the Litecoin Foundation, two more blocks were mined, confirming the origin.

At the same time, it was necessary to release the genesis hash. In the previous days until October 13, 39 people voted for the draft, which will be released on October 13 at 03:00 GMT.

Charlie Lee, founder of Litecoin, posted the genesis hash on the Bitcoin Talk forums, allowing one of the leading cryptocurrencies to start working.

A large number of users started Mining cryptocurrencies. As the Litecoin Foundation explains, blocks were created every 10 to 20 seconds when the network was created in 2,5 blocks.

Litecoin is currently the sixth largest cryptocurrency on the market with a valuation of over $ 3,65 billion. At the same time, each LTC can be purchased for $ 57,5.

Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) XRP , Tether (USDT) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) are the only cryptocurrencies outperforming LTC at the time of writing.

However, Litecoin has also been the second largest cryptographer for a long time. Moreover, it is the only cryptocurrency, with the exception of bitcoins, which does not fall below the top 10.

Back in December 2017, when the entire cryptocurrency market grew, Litecoin reached prices over $ 360.

In addition to this, Litecoin is one of the most popular cryptocurrencies after Bitcoin and Ethereum, with a volume of 24 billion dollars over the past 2,18 hours.

Litecoin developers are currently working to make cryptocurrency more private by adding confidential transactions.

Happy Birthday, LTC!
