Buterin: Ethereum 2.0 is harder to implement than the developers thought

Buterin said that there are no technical flaws that would force them to abandon Ethereum 2.0, stating that the project will be completed.

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin said that Ethereum 2.0 is more difficult to build from a technical point of view than he previously thought. He said this during a podcast with Bitcoin enthusiast Samson Moe. He went on to say that he is convinced that not every project built on Ethereum will be successful.

In a podcast hosted by Peter McCormack, Buterin and Moe discussed issues bordering on the rivalry between Bitcoin and Ethereum. The debate on August 16 focused on the many promises of the Ethereum network and the platform's ability to deliver on them.

McCormack asked Buterin if he really believes the Ethereum network is realizing the vision of the project. He also wanted to know if the creation of Ethereum had become more difficult than previously thought. This is the case when you go halfway and find at the point of no return, which is more difficult than previously thought.

Answering, Buterin сказал:

"I definitely admit openly that Ethereum 2.0 is much more complex than we expected from a technical point of view."

Buterin added that there are no technical flaws that would force the Ethereum 2.0 project to be abandoned, stating that it should be completed. An indication of this is obviously the tremendous progress the team has made so far.

Giving his opinion on what his expectations are, he said that it is likely that many applications built on this platform will be successful, while others will not. However, he argued that these would be independent results.

“If Ethereum tries to get into one space, and it turns out that it's actually useless for that space, then well, you know, these applications aren't going anywhere. Meanwhile, other industries will continue their work. ", - he said.

Samson Moe previously stated that Ethereum proponents are constantly changing stories about the project. He said that while there is nothing wrong with the concept of transformation in the development process, there is a need for a healthy disclaimer to alert people to the limitations of the network.

He gave an example with statements that Ethereum is money. In his response, Buterin explained:

“I did not initiate the fact that ether is money, the Ethereum Foundation did not initiate it. It's something that really came from outside."
