Another step to Ethereum sharding and scalability

☀️Ethereum is one step closer to the promised sharding. At least blockchain researcher Vlad Zamfir, together with the Ethereum team, wrote a working concept demonstrating how various shards will communicate with the blockchain.

⚡️Sharding is one technique for scaling large databases so that they can continue to process huge data streams successfully and quickly. The base is divided into parts, which are taken out on separate servers. These parts are called shards, literally shards.

📉Although many Ethereum developers are striving to build technology into their project roadmap, sharding is still under development. Its implementation will take place in at least 2 years.

💥Zamfir confirmed that his concept is not yet ready for real use. But he believes that the code contains the necessary foundation for embedding into the blockchain. He said:

🔥 "This is a concept focused on the most basic components of sharding."

📌Also Zamfir noticed that the concept shows: messages and transactions on the network are safely sent in a “shard” blockchain. This was one of the main issues in the technology discussion. The trial version on Github comes with a visualization - you can download it and simulate sharding to see how it's done.

🌎It is worth noting that Zamfir's sharding roadmap is slightly at odds with the official Ethereum map. According to him, the point is "different design criteria." The developer said his view of the technical implementation and protocols is different from Buterin's.

Thus, a working concept of the long-awaited technology already exists, but whether it will actually be adopted remains to be seen. Yes, the team took a step towards solving the Ethereum scalability problem, but this is only one step. Yet it is clear that significant issues are being addressed, which adds optimism to the future.
