Hacker Poly Network Recovers More than 50% of Stolen $ 600 Million

The hacker responsible for the massive theft of $ 600 million from the Poly Network recovered more than half stolen fortune.

Earlier this week, the DeFi space was rocked by news of a hack on Poly's network. The attacker managed to escape with more than $ 600 million in stolen digital assets, making it the largest heist in decentralized finance (DeFi) history.

The Poly Network immediately took to Twitter to inform their community of the incident. Poly had supporters ready to help secure the network, including Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao. In his tweet Zhao said, “We are coordinating with all of our security partners to actively help. There are no guarantees. We will do our best. ”

The network responded to the hack not only by notifying the community, but also by sending a letter to the hacker. The letter called for an amicable "solution".

Whether affected writing hacker or the whole hack was a ploy to get attention, the attacker started returning funds yesterday. The first amount was $ 10, and 000 minutes later another million US dollars arrived.

By the end of the night the network reportedthat returned just over $ 260 million.

The latest update from Poly shows a total of $ 342 million has been returned. This amount includes $ 4,6 million on Ethereum, $ 252 million on Binance Smart Chain, and $ 85 million on Polygon. The remaining amount is $ 268 million on Ethereum.

Despite the severe blow to Poly's network, the hacker appears to be relatively accommodating. The hacker not only returned funds to the requested wallet addresses provided by Poly, but also participated in a Q&A survey.

Here the questions and answers are divided into four parts.

The hacker stated that he was not interested in the money and that the refund "was always a plan." The hacker also commented that Poly Network is both "decent" and "complex".

It is not often that such attacks find such positive solutions. However, the network is still hoping to get its last $ 268 million back.
