KeepKey Review

KeepKey has a sturdy construction with anodized aluminum on the back, making it portable and convenient for storage.

One of the main innovations of Keepkey is its built-in integration with the ShapeShift web platform. It's worth noting that while KeepKey has the deepest integration with ShapeShift, you can still use it with other wallet software.

The initial setup is simple and straightforward. Throughout our testing, we have had some problems pairing the device with ShapeShift. The device kept dropping the connection, but a few reboots resolved the issue.

While the built-in ShapeShift integration is an important feature of KeepKey, it has its drawbacks. If you want to buy or trade assets with Shapeshift, you need to create an account and complete KYC verification. However, if you only want to send and receive cryptocurrencies, you only need to create an account with an email address. If you don't want to create a Shapeshift account at all, you can use the KeepKey Client browser extension for some basic functionality, or other wallet encryption software.

KeepKey Pros and Cons

pros

  • Доступная цена.
  • Portable.

Cons

  • ShapeShift requires you to create an account.
  • Limited mobile support.
  • It supports fewer coins than its competitors.

Keepkey prices

As of March 2020, KeepKey is selling for $ 49.

It is recommended to always purchase hardware wallets directly from the manufacturer. Buying used hardware wallets poses the risk of private keys being compromised. When you buy a device from ShapeShift, it comes with a holographic print.

Final thoughts

KeepKey is a hardware wallet made by the company of the same name, which was acquired by ShapeShift network trading platform in 2017. Therefore, the main feature of KeepKey is its integration with ShapeShift. So those who don't want to use ShapeShift at all may be better suited to look for other wallet hardware solutions.

As such, KeepKey is a well-designed, user-friendly wallet with some compatibility limitations, but suitable for beginners.
