ERC20 has been replaced by the new ERC777 standard.

Hi, ERC777

The ERhereX tokens of the ERC777 standard will replace the usual ERC20 tokens. The new standard was developed by Geordi Bailin, Jacques Dufflon and Thomas Shababi. They talked about him last fall, but then the proposal remained open to criticism and feedback.

At the DappCon conference, developers told about future plans, talking about the benefits and functionality of the new standard. It will be introduced in August of this year, and the further fate of the standard will depend on users and other developers who decide for themselves when and where they will implement ERC777.

Currently, a trio of developers is talking about the ERC777 standard as a more flexible alternative to ERC20. The advantages of the new standard imply that it will allow users to conduct faster and error-free transactions. ERC777 uses open source, which can be found here: https://github.com/jacquesd/ERC777.

Another difference from ERC20 is that ERC777 will work on the principle of implementing the send function, which allows direct transactions and exchanges via smart contracts. ERC20 tokens work through the transfer function and require the execution of two transactions to exchange one token for another. The first transaction sends a request for approval, the second allows the contract to transfer the token on behalf of the user.

Another confident difference between ERC777 and ERC20 is the ability to use operators. The developers explained that the operator is an address that is allowed to transfer and burn tokens on behalf of another address. Such an operator can be set by the holder of a token and can be the address of a contract or a regular address. You can turn it off at any time, but using it will allow you to make automatic payments.
